جاجا آنوتشا واتشوكو (و. 1 يناير 1918 –ت.سبعة نوفمبر 1996) وُلد في نبواسي (Nbawsi) بولاية أبيا (Abia) جنوب شرق نيجيريا. وكان أميرا ملكيّا – من نگوالاند (Ngwaland) وسليل 20 أجيال من الزعماء والملوك في أرض الإيبوبشرق نيجيريا. وإذ يعتبر رجل دولة نيجيرية ومناصرا للوحدة الأفريقية، إلا أنه أيضا كان محاميا وسياسيا ودبلوماسيا ومُحسِنًا خيريًّا.

وكان أول وزير خارجية نيجيري، وأول رئيس لمجلس النواب النيجيري، وأول سفير نيجيري وممثل دائم في الأمم المتحدة؛ وأيضا قام – كوزير خارجية نيجيريا الذي يحظى باحترام واسع – بالتدخل والتحدث مع حكومة جنوب أفريقيا لإنقاذ “نلسون مانديلا” وآخرين من عقوبة الإعدام في محاكمة ريڤونيا لعامي 1963-1964.

الوفاة

في الثامنة والسعبين من عمره توفي واتشوكوفي مستشفى نيجريا التعليمي الجامعي في إنوگو، نيجريا، صباح الثلاثاءسبعة نوفمبر 1996. كان جاجا واتشوكوعماً لأوگونوواتشوكو، مؤلف وخبير اتصالات نيجيري مقيم في جنيڤ، سويسرا ومكسيكوسيتي، المكسيك. خط قصيدة مهداة لعمه تحمل اسم: بعض الذكريات لا تموت أبداً. في 20 أكتوبر 1961، في قسم "العالم" بمجلة تايم، خط منطقاً وتقريراً إخبارياً عن جاجا واتشوكووأنشطته الدبلوماسية في الأمم المتحدة، تحت عنوان "كبرياء أفريقيا".
