  • 1 يناير - قام باحثون في جامعة هارڤرد، عاملون في طبيعة النانوتكنولوجي، بتحقيق أول عدسة مفردة قادرة على هجريز جميع ألوان قوس قزح في نقطة واحدة وبدقة عالية، وهي العملية التي كانت في السابق غير قابلة للتحقيق إلا بعدة عدسات.
  • 2 يناير – فيزيائيون في جامعة كورنل أفادوا بخلق "عضلة" للروبوتات (بحجم الخلية) والتي تغيّر شكلها.
  • 3 يناير
